Cruise & Seaport Transfers

A ship does not wait. Miss vehicle check-in at the ferry terminal or cruise embarkation window and there is no next one for hours, sometimes not until the following day. A cruise and seaport transfer is planned backwards from that deadline: the pickup is worked out from your check-in time, not your sailing time, with the road conditions built in. Every journey is a fixed fare set on distance and confirmed before you travel, booked at least 36 hours ahead so a specific vehicle and a named driver are assigned to it.

Who books cruise & seaport transfers with us

Families setting off on a driving holiday to the continent from Hull, arriving at the dock with a full set of hold luggage. Cruise passengers joining a ship at Liverpool or Southampton, who want the day that ends at the terminal to be calm. Groups travelling together for a tour or an event abroad, sharing one MPV rather than splitting across several private hire cars with a sailing deadline. Foot passengers on the Irish Sea routes from Holyhead. And anyone who would rather not drive to a port straight off a flight or a long week, in the dark for much of the year, to make an evening departure.

Cruise & seaport routes we cover

Each of these has its own page with distances, indicative fares by vehicle class, and terminal and check-in detail:

We also run fixed-fare transfers to and from Liverpool Cruise Terminal, Holyhead Ferry Port and Southampton Cruise Port, from Manchester Airport and Liverpool Airport as well as the city, and in both directions for the return. For a port not shown here, send the pickup and drop-off through the contact page and we come back with a fixed rate.

Fixed price, no surprises

Every journey is a fixed fare, set on the exact distance between your two postcodes and confirmed on your booking. There is no meter, so a slow crawl over the Pennine tops on the M62 to Hull, or a queue on the approach to a southern port, does not change what you pay. There is no surge pricing for a weekend or a peak sailing date. Per-vehicle prices and what each fare covers are on the individual route pages and on the booking form.

What a cruise or seaport transfer includes

A pickup timed from your check-in cut-off rather than the sailing time, with the road conditions checked before departure. One assigned driver for the whole journey and help with the luggage, which on this kind of trip tends to run larger than a city-break case. Meet and greet at your pickup is an optional extra you can add on the booking form. On a home, hotel or cruise terminal pickup, the price includes the waiting time you select when you book. Where the journey starts at Manchester Airport, the fare adds flight tracking and the £6 pickup fee, the driver works to your real landing time, and the first hour after you land is free; after that, waiting is charged. The fare takes you to the terminal building, not just the port gate.

Vehicles for cruise & seaport transfers

Vehicle Passengers Luggage Typical use
Saloon Standard 1–4 2 cases Couples with hand and cabin luggage
Estate Standard 1–4 4 cases Families with a full set of hold luggage
Executive Estate 1–4 3 cases A higher-spec car for the longer runs south
MPV Executive 5–8 6 cases Groups and larger families with cruise or touring luggage

Cruise and touring luggage is bulky, so the Estate and MPV are the common choices here. Indicative fares for each class are on the route pages; this hub does not carry prices because they depend on the exact journey.

Working back from your sailing time on a cruise transfer

Booking a cruise transfer is not really a question of when you want to leave. It is arithmetic worked backwards from a deadline that does not move. A ship sails on its published time whether or not you are aboard, and if you miss it the cruise line’s answer is that you make your own way to the next port at your own expense. That single fact is why we plan a seaport run differently from an airport run, where the worst case is usually a seat on a later flight.

The chain we work back through is the same every time. Start at the final check-in cut-off shown on your cruise documents, not the sailing time — the gap between the two is often a couple of hours. Take off the time it takes to clear the terminal itself: parking or dropping, the luggage hand-over to the porters, security and the check-in desks, which at a busy turnaround with several thousand passengers joining at once is not quick. Take off the drive. Then take off a genuine traffic allowance rather than an optimistic one, because a Sunday-morning departure from Greater Manchester to Southampton or Dover crosses several motorways where a single incident removes an hour with no warning and no alternative route.

Two things surprise people. The first is that many lines now issue a staggered boarding window by deck or cabin number to spread arrivals across the day, so turning up hours early does not get you aboard early — it gets you a wait in a terminal hall. Give us your assigned window and we will aim at it rather than at the doors opening. The second is that the return leg is the tighter one for the driver, not for you: everybody disembarks into the same two hours, so we set the pickup against your disembarkation group and wait for you rather than the other way round.

Luggage decides the vehicle more often than passenger numbers do on this kind of trip. Cruise cases are large, there are usually two per person rather than one, and formal wear travels in addition. If you are close to the boundary between classes, book the larger one; a case that does not fit at the kerb at five in the morning is a problem with no good solution. Get a fixed fare for your cruise transfer and give us the sailing time when you book.

Frequently asked questions

How are cruise & seaport transfers priced?

Every journey is a fixed fare, calculated by distance and confirmed before you travel. No meter, no surge pricing, no hidden extras. Enter your pickup and drop-off on the booking form for an instant quote.

How far in advance do I need to book?

We take bookings at least 36 hours before pickup, which is how we guarantee an executive vehicle and an assigned driver for every journey.

Is the price per car or per person?

Per car. Up to four passengers share one fixed fare in a saloon or estate, or up to eight in the MPV Executive. There is no per-seat charge.

Can I pay by card?

Yes. Booking and payment are completed online when you confirm, so there is nothing to pay the driver on the day.

Do you cover journeys in both directions?

Yes. Every route runs as the same fixed fare with pickup and drop-off swapped. Book both legs together if your return date is set.

How do you make sure I reach the ship in time?

We work the pickup back from the check-in cut-off at the terminal, not the sailing time, aim to have you there well inside the window, and check the road conditions before setting off. Where the trip follows a flight, the driver also tracks the inbound.

Can you drop us right at the terminal building?

Yes. The driver sets you down at the passenger terminal, where you check in inside. There is no need to use a connecting shuttle when you are coming door to door.

My port is not shown here. Can you still take me?

Yes. We cover the main UK ferry ports and cruise terminals. Send the pickup and drop-off through the contact page and we come back with a fixed rate.
